About This Product
PVC is the cheapest training pole a program can own — every hardware store carries it, it costs a few dollars a length, and it survives being dropped by beginners learning to plant. What it does not have is a tip. Bare PVC skates across a gym floor, chews up on asphalt, and scuffs anything it touches. This plug fits inside the end of standard nominal PVC pipe up to 1-1/2" and gives the pole a proper contact point. The hard rubber compound is for outdoor surfaces — grass, dirt, asphalt runways — where you want durability. The soft compound is built for indoor use: it grips a gym floor instead of sliding out from under an athlete, and it will not mark the surface. Most programs running winter drill work in a gym want the soft version. Order by the nominal pipe size you are buying at the hardware store.
